The CEDA Archive is the UK's national data centre for atmospheric and Earth observation research and part of the Natural Environment Research Council's Environmental Data Service. It is run by the Centre for Environmental Data Analysis (CEDA), part of STFC RAL Space, which provides the service for NERC through the National Centre for Atmospheric Science and the National Centre for Earth Observation (NCEO). The archive hosts over 20 petabytes of data from climate models, satellites, aircraft and meteorological observations. NCEO describes the CEDA EO data collection on JASMIN as the largest EO data archive in the UK.
Its satellite holdings include a mirror of ESA Sentinel products: Sentinel-1 IW SLC (global, four-month rolling archive), Sentinel-2 Level 1 MSI for the UK and Crown Dependencies, Sentinel-3 SLSTR and OLCI (global), Sentinel-5P Level 1 (global), and Sentinel-1 and Sentinel-2 analysis-ready data produced by Defra's Earth Observation Data Service and JNCC. It also holds Landsat 8 Level 1 and MODIS collections and is the archive for many ESA Climate Change Initiative projects. During the COVID-19 lockdowns CEDA backfilled and updated Sentinel-5P air-quality products so researchers could compare national emissions.
Users find data through the CEDA Catalogue, the Satellite Data Finder map and a directory browser, and download it over HTTPS, FTP or OPeNDAP, or programmatically through a STAC API and the CEDA Download API. Users of the JASMIN supercomputer can analyse the data in place. Public datasets need no login; others require a CEDA account or an approved access application.

National Centre for Earth Observation
The National Centre for Earth Observation (NCEO) is a distributed UK research centre of the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC), dedicated to the long-term study and exploitation of satellite and remote sensing Earth observation data. It provides scientific oversight of NERC-funded facilities, including the CEDA data archive on the JASMIN computing infrastructure and the NEODAAS satellite data service, leads the Earth Observation Data Hub and administers the Earth Observation Climate Information Service (EOCIS). Its headquarters are at Space Park Leicester.
