Carta is Climate X's corporate asset-mapping service. Banks, investors and insurers usually know where a borrower or holding is headquartered, but not where its offices, factories, warehouses and data centres are, so its physical climate exposure cannot be assessed. Climate X says finding those sites by manual research, client surveys or consultants takes months.

Given a company name, public or private, Carta scans online sources such as company websites, job boards, registries and mapping services to find the company's physical sites and its linked subsidiaries, including joint ventures with a stake above 50%. Assets are geolocated, classified and scored for materiality using machine-learning and large language models, and outputs are reviewed by analysts. For high-impact sites, Climate X applies its own satellite image analysis to confirm a site's presence, size and function. Anomaly detection, spot checks and annual remapping keep the data current.

Climate X runs Carta as a fully managed service and states that it covers 18.7 million public and private companies worldwide, with no restriction on industry or geography and results delivered in days. Data is supplied in standardised formats for the client's own systems, or feeds directly into Climate X's Spectra platform for physical climate risk assessment and its Adapt platform for adaptation planning. Climate X says Carta is used by leading global banks, including a top-three investment bank, and describes it as integrated with FactSet.
