CAPE Property Intelligence

CAPE Property Intelligence, from CAPE Analytics (part of Moody's since 2025), gives property insurers, reinsurers, lenders and real estate investors address-level property attributes and risk signals that would otherwise need an on-site inspection. Computer-vision and machine-learning models analyse high-resolution geospatial imagery that CAPE sources from partners rather than capturing itself. CAPE says this imagery is collected "via airplane and satellite"; the imagery partners it names for these attributes are aerial providers (EagleView, Vexcel, Nearmap and Google aerial imagery). The imagery-derived attributes are combined with weather data, public records and digital surface models.

Outputs include the Roof Condition Rating, a five-point roof score with reason codes that CAPE reports has been approved for use over 200 times across nearly 40 U.S. states, along with roof age, roof geometry, tree overhang, yard debris, pools, solar panels, living area and property-level wind, hail and wildfire vulnerability. Change detection flags changes such as roof repairs, new pools or solar panels across a monitored portfolio. Modules cover home and commercial insurance (COPE data), real estate valuation and due diligence, and reinsurance cedent review, with attributes mapped to Moody's RMS catastrophe models.

Data is delivered through an API with sub-two-second response times, batch processing, web applications for personal and commercial lines, and insurance core platforms such as Guidewire and Duck Creek. Coverage spans the United States and large parts of Canada and Australia. Published clients include CSAA Insurance Group, State Auto, AXA XL, Mercury Insurance, American Integrity, Florida Peninsula, Hippo and Kin.
