AMDB (Aerodrome Mapping Database) is KPGeo's production of airport mapping data for the move from paper-based Aeronautical Information Services to digital Aeronautical Information Management required by ICAO Annex 15. Each AMDB is a 3D database of an aerodrome organised into more than 40 layers: runways, taxiways, aprons and parking stands, vertical structures such as terminals, hangars, trees and poles, service roads, aerodrome signs, water and the Aerodrome Surface Routing Network. It covers ground infrastructure and vertical elements taller than 0.5 m inside the 50/90 m buffer zone.
KPGeo digitises the aerodrome objects photogrammetrically from georeferenced satellite, aerial or drone imagery, adjusted to the ground with surveyed Ground Control Points, and derives attribute information from official AIP documentation. Databases are produced to RTCA DO-272/EUROCAE ED-99, RTCA DO-291/EUROCAE ED-119 and AIXM requirements in two accuracy grades: AMDB Fine (below 1 m horizontal and 0.5 m vertical, 95% confidence) and AMDB Medium (below 5 m horizontal and 3 m vertical, 90% confidence). Delivery formats include AIXM 5.1.1, ARINC 816-3, ESRI Geodatabase, ESRI Shapefile and KML/KMZ, with terrain in GeoTIFF, DTED or USGS formats. The data supports on-board surface-navigation applications and aeronautical information management systems.
KPGeo reports AMDBs for more than 50 airports. As a subcontractor to The FANS Group, it produced AMDB and eTOD databases for seven airports operated by ASUR in Mexico, including Cancún, to EUROCAE ED-99B, ED-98A and ICAO Annex 15. Its quality management system is certified to ISO 9001:2015 and AQAP 2110:2016.
