Ambee Natural Disasters API gives insurers, supply-chain and risk teams one normalized feed of natural hazard events worldwide, replacing separate agency sources that report events in different formats, units and levels of detail. Ambee aggregates raw reports from authoritative sources, including reporting networks, satellite observations and meteorological models. Its published source list for this product names, among others, the US Geological Survey, NASA EONET, NASA FIRMS (MODIS and VIIRS satellite fire detections), the Copernicus Emergency Management Service, the International Disasters Charter, GDACS, NOAA and the IRIS seismological network. A domain-adapted language model extracts location, timing, severity and impact from each report; alert levels are normalized from physical signals such as rainfall intensity, wind speed and seismic magnitude; and related detections are clustered into one event record.
The feed covers 12+ hazard types (earthquakes, volcanoes, tsunamis, tropical cyclones, severe storms, extreme temperature, floods, landslides, sea ice, wildfires, droughts and miscellaneous events) for any location on land, with more than 30 years of history. Each event carries severity scores, alert levels, onset and end times and polygon boundaries. Data is delivered through a REST API returning JSON or GeoJSON (queried by coordinates, country, continent or a custom polygon), webhooks, CSV and Parquet flat files, and marketplaces including Databricks, Datarade, Google Cloud and Zapier. Ambee positions the data for insurance and risk modelling, anticipating supply-chain disruption, asset resilience planning, ESG reporting and automatically pausing ad campaigns in disaster-affected zones.
