Advanced Data Collection

Advanced Data Collection (presented on the page as the Advanced Data Collection & Remote Sensing service) is Svarmi's data acquisition service for environmental, infrastructure and nature-based solution projects, where accurate and timely data needs specialised expertise, equipment and reach.

For aerial data, Svarmi flies drones with high-resolution RGB, LiDAR, multispectral and thermal sensors to produce orthoimages, photorealistic 3D models, point clouds and digital terrain models. For satellite data the service is provider-agnostic: it sources free public imagery from Sentinel (ESA) and Landsat (NASA/USGS) and high-resolution commercial imagery from providers such as Planet, Maxar and Airbus, and can set up and manage monitoring subscriptions that deliver new imagery of a client's area of interest as it becomes available. Custom mapping and monitoring plans can combine the two, for example using satellite imagery for broad-area change detection and then drones to investigate specific areas, with revisit frequency, sensor type and resolution set to the client's goals and budget.

Clients choose full-service acquisition, hybrid collection alongside their own field teams, or training courses that make their teams self-sufficient. All acquired data is delivered into Svarmi's DATACT platform for viewing, sharing and collaboration without specialised software. Svarmi cites more than 12 years of drone data collection across several continents, including mapping of volcanic eruptions, avalanche paths and flood zones, and is based in Iceland and Switzerland. Published projects include a forest digital twin and tree inventory for Eberhard Unternehmungen and baseline mapping with five-year remapping cycles for Yggdrasill Carbon.
