Ocean Ledger's coastal-risk analytics turn satellite imagery, machine learning and field data into coastal elevation, shoreline-change, bathymetry, ecosystem and natural-defence layers, plus a storm-surge model. Its published case studies use Landsat, Sentinel-2 and PlanetScope imagery. The model covers six coastal-risk drivers: precipitation, natural defences, vertical erosion, seabed movement, flooding and horizontal erosion. Elevation and seabed data run at 10–30 m resolution. Shorelines are extracted every 100 m along the coast, with an annual record back to 1986. Every output comes with uncertainty maps. Ocean Ledger reports that its elevation data is within 1 cm of local ground surveys on average and that its surge predictions came within 20–40 cm of observed water levels in Hurricanes Ida and Ian. It benchmarks against KatRisk, RMS and Verisk. Clients use an in-house dashboard with heatmaps, custom early-warning trigger thresholds, scenario analysis and 20-year forecasts under RCP 8.5. Outputs are also available through an API, insight reports and GeoTIFF, shapefile or tabular downloads. Past work includes a 7,800 km² marine-habitat baseline for the Government of Belize's Blue Bond. In a Lloyd's Lab back-test on Florida hurricane claims, accuracy improved for 91% of the 252 claims analysed. The analytics serve insurers, ports, utilities, commercial real estate and governments. The company is also preparing to launch its own coastal flood insurance built on the same data.

Ocean Ledger
London-based Ocean Ledger (founded 2023) builds its own satellite-derived coastal data: coastal elevation, shoreline position and historical change, seabed depth and movement, and natural defences such as coastal ecosystems. These feed a proprietary storm-surge model. It sells coastal-risk analytics and habitat mapping to governments, utilities, ports and commercial real estate. One example is a 7,800 km² marine-habitat baseline for the Government of Belize's Blue Bond programme. It is now using the same models to launch a coastal flood insurance product for commercial properties on the US Gulf and Atlantic coasts.
