CIF Dashboard

The CIF Dashboard is an ESA-funded, cloud-based decision-support platform developed by the Polar View consortium (including EOX, NRC Canada, C-CORE, and the Danish Meteorological Institute) that transforms satellite-derived geospatial data into actionable intelligence for three marine sectors operating in the Arctic and North Atlantic.

Key capabilities:

• EO Data Integration: Ingests multi-modal Earth Observation datasets — optical, thermal infrared (sea surface temperature), and SAR (sea ice detection) — alongside Copernicus Marine Service products and meteorological data to provide situational awareness for marine and coastal areas.
• Interactive Dashboard Visualisation: A web-based Polar dashboard enables end-users to explore, layer, and inspect geospatial products temporally, including a Harshness Index that integrates wave height, wind speed, and ice concentration.
• Arctic Shipping & Route Optimisation: Combines ocean and ice data with IMO Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII) metrics to support safe route planning, navigational risk indexing, and fuel/emissions minimisation.
• Offshore Renewable Energy Assessment: Provides customisable metrics for wind, wave, tidal, and solar energy potential alongside site suitability and operational risk assessment for offshore installations.
• Aquaculture Monitoring: Integrates satellite and weather data for site selection, water quality monitoring, and early warnings for harmful algal blooms, marine heatwaves, and superchill events.
• Bespoke Configuration: Offers client-specific adaptation of CIF functionality for operational needs.

CIF is distinctive for its ESA-backed Green Transition Information Factory (GTIF) provenance, its focus on connecting the Blue and Green Economies, and its co-development approach with end users across industry, government, and civil society. The platform is targeted for full completion in spring 2026.
