AI-powered forest inventory using lidar and satellite EO data

LINDA Inventory produces operational forest inventory layers and yield estimates for large forest areas by fusing airborne lidar with satellite imagery, including Sentinel-2 optical time series, Copernicus Land Monitoring data, and high-resolution imagery from Planet and Airbus. The product automates stand-level attribute estimation — total volume, timber and fibre assortments, stem count, species composition (spruce, pine, deciduous), basal area, tree height, diameter, and carbon stocks — to replace or augment field sampling at a cost target of under 5 EUR/ha annually, with total volume accuracy of RMSE below 17%.
The service is delivered as data layers and integrations (Geopackage, WMS API, ForestKIT, LVM GEO) for forest management systems, accessible via a web interface or as a GIS layer. Annual inventory updates are provided at 20×20 m grid resolution or finer, with recommendations for final felling and thinning. Customers include major forest owners across Finland, Sweden, Estonia, and Brazil, with notable partnerships including Metsahallitus, Sveaskog, and Tornator.
