Bark beetle detection and monitoring using satellite imagery and AI

LINDA Bark Beetle is an AI-based managed service that detects and monitors bark beetle infestations using ESA Sentinel-2 satellite imagery, recent LiDAR data, harvester records, and sample plots. The system identifies early-stage infestation markers in spruce stands — subtle spectral changes invisible to the human eye — with up to 90% accuracy, and delivers severity maps and dead-tree layers updated multiple times per season.
Forest owners and managers receive ready-to-use damage maps via GeoPackage files, a WMS API, and direct integration with forest management systems such as ForestKIT and LVM GEO. This enables prioritised harvest planning, targeted intervention, and year-round bark beetle risk management across large ownerships. The product is commercially available in Finland, Sweden, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
