Sustainable Fisheries Monitoring

CLS provides end-to-end fisheries Monitoring, Control and Surveillance (MCS) solutions combining satellite AIS, VMS, SAR radar imagery, and oceanographic data to detect fishing activity, combat IUU fishing, and support sustainable resource management.

The flagship THEMIS Fisheries Monitoring Center (FMC) platform fuses vessel position feeds (VMS, AIS, Sat-AIS), electronic catch reports, satellite radar vessel detection, and environmental data (sea surface temperature, currents, salinity) into a single mapping interface. Suspicious behaviour and IUU fishing are identified through blacklist monitoring and cross-comparison of AIS and VMS data, with near-real-time quota and catch reporting available to fisheries managers.

Additional products include the NEMO VMS beacon for small-scale/artisanal fishers (solar-powered, Galileo-enabled), TRITON VMS for commercial fleets, CATSAT real-time fishing intelligence, and ASTREE analytics. CLS operates in 41 offices worldwide, supports 60+ coastal nations, and deploys hardware on 15,000+ fishing vessels. Target customers include government fisheries administrations, maritime authorities, and Regional Fisheries Management Organizations (RFMOs) such as IOTC, WCPFC, and ICCAT.
