Caius Paths is an AI-driven mapping solution that automatically digitizes forest roads, trails and rural route networks from satellite imagery and geomorphological data. Using multi-level deep learning neural networks trained on Galileo positioning data and Copernicus Earth observation imagery, the system identifies and maps trail and road networks at scale, and delivers comparative analytics showing how a region's network has changed over time.
The platform serves regional governments, municipalities, NGOs, forestry departments, fire services and road management entities, supporting use cases such as hiking network organisation, emergency route planning, sustainable rural tourism and environmental protection. Clients receive a fully managed, project-based engagement in which Caius processes the satellite data and delivers ready-to-use map layers and analytics — no specialist EO software is required on the client side.
Caius advanced to Technology Readiness Level 8 through the ESA BIC Greece incubation programme and has secured large-scale B2G contracts, including a project with the Region of Epirus to map uncharted forest trails and integrate them into regional tourism strategies.
