GTIF AT

GTIF Austria (Green Transition Information Factory) is an ESA initiative — the first national GTIF demonstrator, launched in 2022 and operational since October 2024 — that transforms Earth Observation satellite data into actionable geospatial intelligence for Austria's green transition and climate adaptation.

Decision-makers, industry and citizens gain access to trustworthy, interoperable EO products (indicators, maps and datasets) across five application domains: Energy Transition, Mobility Transition, Sustainable Cities, Carbon Accounting, and EO Climate Adaptation Services. Services are delivered via machine-to-machine APIs and interactive WebGUIs (Narratives Gallery and Data Explorer), and are powered by federated European cloud infrastructure operated by EOX IT Services GmbH.

With national funding approaching EUR 10 million and a sustainable governance model, GTIF Austria has moved beyond pilot phase into long-term operational continuity.

Key capabilities:

• EO-derived Indicators & Datasets: Pre-produced, standardised geospatial products for energy, mobility, cities and carbon accounting.
• Machine-to-Machine APIs (REST): Programmatic access enabling system integration and automated workflows.
• Interactive WebGUIs: Narratives Gallery (curated scientific stories) and Data Explorer for both technical and non-technical users.
• Provider Workspace & Tools: Data Editor and Narrative Editor for capability providers to publish and document services per the GTIF Technical Handbook.
• Interoperability & Open Standards: Open, interoperable formats and cloud-enabled delivery embedding EO insights into decision and policy chains.
