K3108 Ground-Truth System Device

K3108 is a ground-truth (reference) positioning unit from Kunchen (中电昆辰) for vehicle and ADAS testing. Test teams need a trusted reference trajectory to judge a vehicle's own sensors, but a conventional GNSS-based reference cannot be used inside buildings, parking garages or tunnels, where satellite signals are blocked.

Outdoors, K3108 takes its truth from a built-in all-constellation, all-frequency GNSS receiver (BeiDou, GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, QZSS, NavIC and SBAS) running network RTK, with corrections received over its built-in 4G modem (0.6 cm + 0.5 ppm RMS horizontal, baselines under 40 km) and dual-antenna heading. A MEMS IMU and wheel-speed input (via CAN or pulse) are fused with the GNSS solution. Where GNSS is blocked, an external UWB antenna working with Kunchen's FocusStar ("聚星") UWB network keeps positioning at under 10 cm (CEP68) and supplies PPS timing. With neither GNSS nor UWB available, the unit falls back to IMU and odometer dead reckoning.

The unit outputs position, velocity and attitude at 1–100 Hz in a unified WGS-84 coordinate format over 3 CAN FD and 4 RS232 ports, records to an SD card and can upload positioning data over 4G. Recorded data can be post-processed with Kunchen's own KCPP software or with Inertial Explorer. Kunchen also positions the unit as a source of position, velocity and attitude data for intelligent connected vehicles in NGP/NOA and automated valet parking (AVP) scenarios, and states that its indoor-outdoor ground-truth system is in continuing use with several customers, none of them named. Kunchen offers free solution design, equipment loan and data analysis to prospective users.
