EO Data Processing and Application Services

ACRI-ST is a French Earth observation company that processes and validates satellite data and turns it into products and online services. Raw satellite measurements need calibration, validation, reprocessing and compositing before public bodies and scientists can rely on them; ACRI-ST builds and operates the processing chains that do this.

Its Applications & Services to End-users practice covers automatic change detection and monitoring, global satellite data mosaicking, multisource data fusion, biophysical and geophysical data computation, and the design and operation of end-user online platforms. Work in this line includes:

• Sentinel-2 Global Mosaic (S2GM-2), a component of the Copernicus Global Land Service that composites Sentinel-2 surface reflectance into analysis-ready mosaics at three spatial resolutions, over periods from one day to one year, on a global scale. The portal's documentation also covers downstream albedo and LAI/FAPAR biophysical products, and albedo mosaics can be ordered. Users tailor area of interest, compositing period, bands and file format in an online portal.
• Copernicus Marine Service ocean colour products: for Mercator Ocean International, ACRI-ST is part of the Ocean Colour Thematic Assembly Centre, whose products are based on SeaWiFS, MERIS, MODIS, VIIRS and Sentinel-3 OLCI.
• ESA Climate Change Initiative records for land surface temperature and sea surface salinity. For salinity, ACRI-ST leads the system that reprocesses SMOS, Aquarius and SMAP data from Level 1 to Level 4.
• Validation services: GBOV for the EC Joint Research Centre and LAW for Sentinel-3 products compare satellite products with ground-based measurement networks. For LAW, ACRI-ST deploys five ground stations in Europe and Australia and runs a free web portal.

ACRI-ST also runs calibration, validation and production services for Copernicus Sentinel missions. It leads a group of eight independent SMEs in seven countries, with 150 researchers and engineers.
