OceanVibes Playground is a free public web application that visualises real-world ocean surface current measurements rather than forecasts or simulations. Powered by eOdyn's Omni-Situ (OS) technology — which extracts drift-derived current data from AIS broadcasts of ships at sea — the tool lets users build custom interactive maps, share direct links to personalised views, and bookmark favourite locations. AIS data for the demonstration is provided by French Maritime Affairs (DGAMPA) and the underlying methodology is complemented by satellite sources including Sentinel-3 and Jason altimeters. NASA MODIS (Terra) satellite imagery serves as the basemap layer, enabling visual comparison of currents against optical EO scenes. The Playground is designed for discovery and exploration — ideal for demonstrations, research comparisons and education — and is explicitly not intended for professional or operational use such as route planning or safety at sea.
